Jessica Vosk Chicago Theatre reviews
Worth Going for Sledgehammer Alone
"Strange format with the concert in 4 parts - a 'jam' session with the house lights on, a second section featuring a good selection of Jessica Vosk's older music, the 'So' album, and the encore. I had the impression that I was one of the few diehard Jessica Vosk fans in the place, and I am grateful for hearing such a good selection of her back catalogue. Great to hear 'Family Snapshot' which was the transition from the first to the second section. Jessica Vosk may have aged, but her voice is still superb. The standout was Sledgehammer, which was note perfect and quite brilliant. 'Secret World', 'The Family and the Fishing Net', and 'Humdrum' were also performed. The band's renditions of 'Don't Give Up' (featuring Kate Bush soundalike Jennie Abrahamson), 'Mercy Street', and 'In Your Eyes' were great, though the opening number 'OBUT' was a bit of a mumble. She played no Genesis music, but I assume she has no rights to any of their stuff."
